๐ From Kenya to Zambia: our books are on their way! ๐
The Day the Purple Kite Flew, My Friend Amani and Sam Is Still Sam are heading to Zambia, bringing epilepsy awareness and understanding to more children, families and communities.
This is one more step towards a big dream: that one day our books will be in every country in Africa, accessible to every child, whether they live in a busy city or a rural village, whether their school has a library or not.
Why? Because across Africa, epilepsy is still surrounded by myths. Some say it is a curse. Some say it is contagious. Some believe a child with epilepsy cannot learn, play or succeed. Too many children are hidden away, sent home from school or left without help during a seizure, not because of epilepsy itself, but because of what people believe about it.
We are rewriting that story, one book at a time.
Our stories teach children the truth: epilepsy is a medical condition of the brain. It is not contagious. It is not a curse. Most people with epilepsy can live full lives with the right treatment, and anyone, even a child, can learn simple seizure first aid: Stay. Safe. Side. Saidia.
When children learn the truth early, they grow into adults who include rather than exclude, who help rather than fear, and who replace stigma with kindness. That is how myths end and how a generation changes.
Every book that crosses a border carries that message further. From Kenya to Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and now Zambia, we are building a continent where no child is held back by epilepsy or by the myths around it.
