Kabete Sub-County Epilepsy Champions Trained and Ready for Every School

Kabete Sub-County, meet your Epilepsy Champions. 💜
This week, a new team of Epilepsy Champions completed their training and are now ready to visit every school in Kabete Sub-County, teaching seizure first aid: Stay. Safe. Side. Saidia.
📚 They will be distributing 500 NeuroReach Friends Series books across the sub-county, putting stories about epilepsy, kindness and first aid into the hands of teachers and pupils.
Why does this matter? According to WHO, up to 70% of people with epilepsy could live free of seizures with the right diagnosis and treatment. Yet too many children in Kenya are still sent home from school after a seizure, kept away from class by fear, myths and stigma, or left without help because no one nearby knows what to do.
A seizure in a classroom should never be a moment of panic. With the right knowledge, teachers and pupils can keep a child safe, protect their dignity and know when to call for help. When children grow up understanding epilepsy, there is nothing to unlearn later.
Our champions carry more than books. They carry hope, facts and a simple message: epilepsy is not contagious, it is not a curse, and a child with epilepsy belongs in school, learning and playing alongside their friends.
This builds on our work in Kikuyu Sub-County, where we took books to 54 primary schools and saw teachers move from never having been trained on epilepsy to confidently doing the first aid steps. Now Kabete is next.
Thank you to every champion who gave their time and heart to this training, and to the community and county partners walking this journey with us. Together, we are building schools where every child is safe, seen and supported.
💜 Bridging Gaps. Building Hope.
