NeuroReach Africa Meets Kiambu County Leadership to Advance Epilepsy Care

It was a very good morning in Kiambu.
On 3 August 2026, NeuroReach Africa met H.E. Rosemary Kirika, Deputy Governor of Kiambu County, and Dr Maina, County Executive Committee Member for Health, for a fruitful discussion around our mission of research, innovation and community impact.
We explored the many ways we are working to close the epilepsy treatment gap and to raise awareness that ends the stigma still surrounding the condition.
Most people living with epilepsy in Kenya will never see a neurologist. They are seen, if at all, at facilities that counties run. So this is where the conversation needs to happen.
We are deeply grateful to H.E. Kirika and Dr Maina for their time, openness and shared commitment to improving health outcomes at the community level. Partnerships with county leadership are essential if we are to reach more families, train more health workers and make epilepsy care a reality beyond specialist hospitals.
Thank you both for your time. More to share soon.
Research. Innovation. Impact.
