The Day the Purple Kite Flew: A Book Launch of Hope, Understanding and Inclusion

Some moments leave a mark on your heart forever. 6 August 2026 was one of those moments.

Looking around the room, we were overwhelmed with gratitude. Seeing professors, paediatricians, neurologists, doctors, researchers, healthcare professionals, family, friends and H.E. Rosemary Kirika, Deputy Governor of Kiambu County, gathered together in support of a simple but powerful vision was incredibly humbling.

The Day the Purple Kite Flew was written because every child deserves to be understood, included and loved, regardless of an epilepsy diagnosis. It was born from countless conversations with families, lived experiences and the hope that one day no child will face stigma because of seizures.

That evening reminded us that change does not happen because of one person. It happens when people choose to care. When they choose to listen. When they choose to stay.

To everyone who celebrated this milestone with us, thank you. Thank you for believing in our mission, for standing with NeuroReach Africa and for becoming friends who stay.

This was not simply the launch of a book. It was the launch of hope, understanding and a future where children living with epilepsy can fly as freely as the purple kite.
